Bundt, Hedwig

Possible German woman of the late 16th century. One of thirteen children (9 surviving to adulthood) of Herr and Frau Bundt, she was born, raised, married and died without leaving her family’s dairy farm, which at the time was the fourteenth largest in the Holy Roman Empire. According to legend, she was a prolific baker and artisan, creating torus-inspired lawn sculptures. See Cake.
